50年代の初め、ブルース活動はメンフィスに集中した。理由は４０年代の終わりに解説した黒人向けラジオ局のWDIAが125万人というせんざい黒人マーケットに向けて、ブルース、ゴスペルばかりのプログラムを流したからだ。

加えてメンフィスは移住者たちの目的地の一つで、個々に定住しない移住者たちにとっても休憩場所になっていた。

On the beggining of 50's blues activities concentrated in Memphis.

The reson is WDIA station keep Air Played program consisted only Blues and Godspel and Memphis is the destination of rivertine.

In 1950's Arabama born white DJ Sam Philipps built the place.

And Elvis Plesry was involved.  

サニーボーイウィリアムソン

He was known as the one of most influencial blues and harp player.

Since 1938, he kept playing at KFFA station [Sunnyboys Corn Meal and King Bisket Show].

Intermittently he kept playing in this show for 27 years. 

In other words, in Arkansus and Mississippi Delta, HIs blues were kept air played to Hundreds of thousand people.

マディーウォータース

In 1941, Alan Romax and John work visited Mississippi delta to search for Robert Johnson.

However, Johnson passed away at that time so they could not find him.

Alternatively he discovered fifty half peasants who can play like robert Johnson and that was muddy waters.

(His Real Name was Mckinley Morgan Field). He made debut in 1915, and 1951 record debut.

Great Migration

In 1940's Illinois 380,000.- black people moved from America to the Chicago.
