Kanye West was initially announced his performance at day 1 head liner but cancelled "due to artist circumstances".
Jack Johnson who was playing Fuji Rock became head liner of the festival for the first time.

In 2015, Orange Court which has been installed in the back of the Field of Heaven since 2003, had not been installed since drainage and sound interference problems.

2016 was 20th anniversarry for Fuji Rock Festival and "FRF 20th SPECIAL G&G Miller Orchestra" ,which was formed with 18 Orchestra members and named musicians such as Tokiko Kato(classical women Chanson singer) , Keiichi Sokabe(Singer of rock band Sunny Day Service) and Yoshie Nakano(lead singer of Jazz Unit EGO-WRAPPIN'), performed on the day 2.
